Many influencers have a love-hate relationship with social media. We love it for the community, the tips, advice, encouragement, entertainment, and hey, it doesn’t hurt that there’s an opportunity to earn income as well. But I have to home in on the earn. There is intentional work that goes into monetizing on social media. It takes commitment, hard work, expertise and above all else, engagement.
That’s why I was so excited when Lady Boss Blogger, founded and led by Elaine Rau, reached out to partner with me to take her “Grow Christian Blog” course! After just a few days into the training, I was filled up and inspired by what I was learning. God’s word is true and applicable today, tomorrow, and always and this course was a testimony to just that. She includes seven faith-based business principles that resonated with me, with the first being that the Lord is the head of my life and all I do in it. I am a firm believer that apart from the Creator, I can do nothing (John 15:5). I am truly humbled by the call and fire God has placed in my life, and I truly want to be a vessel that points others to Christ.
Now to the nitty-gritty of the course, I have to give you a heads up it is intense, in the best way possible. There’s so much to learn, and it’s packed with helpful information. Thankfully, Elaine is great about managing expectations. She encourages you to pick a certain time frame, 1-2 hours each day, to dedicate to this curriculum.
There are ten modules in this course, including the foundation of blogging, creating your overall brand, and how to fix/combat common mistakes. The final section is full of templates and bonuses you can make your own. Elaine encourages you to read through each module once and then go back to reference certain sections you think deserve a deeper dive. For me, I’ll be revisiting each one.
As a busy Pastor’s wife, working-mama, dog mom, servant leader and side hustle, I will be implementing much of what I’ve learned from this course well into the new year. Interestingly, a huge part of this course was how to leverage Pinterest to grow your blog and overall following — this was eye-opening. For years I had only thought of Pinterest as a place to find a good recipe or for party décor inspo, never a medium to promote my blogs. I have a lot to learn in this regard.
There are three areas I plan to invest my energy in most immediately.
Using Pinterest as a vehicle for growth
Improving Content Planning
Using SEO to expand my reach
Since joining the Lady Boss Blogger Community, I have learned so much, and it’s exciting to know I’ve only scratched the surface. There are several more courses to take depending on where you are in your journey.
